Power restored after 24-hour cuts
De La Warr Road
De La Warr Road residents said they could not contact EDF Energy
A power company has apologised to customers in East Sussex whose electricity was cut off at the weekend.

Power was restored to homes in De La Warr Road, Bexhill on Sunday night after they had suffered breaks in supply of up to 24 hours.

Resident Lynn Smith said those affected found it difficult to get information from EDF Energy about the power cuts.

But the company said it had sent letters to all those affected and offered them 50 as a goodwill gesture.

Recorded message

Lynn Smith said she fell on the stairs when the lights went out unexpectedly and could get only a recorded message from the company.

"I don't feel that EDF Energy has given customer service at all - we have heard nothing from them," she said.

A spokesman for EDF said the power cuts were made worse by a generator failure.

"We would like to apologise to customers affected by the power interruptions," said a spokesman.

"We have been working all weekend to complete the repairs to ensure the local distribution network is robust."
