Seized BMW used as drug deterrent

The car is now on show at public events

A convicted drug dealer's BMW convertible seized by Sussex Police is being used as an anti-drugs messenger.

The luxury vehicle - a silver BMW, with burgundy leather interior - is now emblazoned with "Car seized from local drug dealer" on its doors.

On the bonnet is the message: "Operation Payback. Making drug dealers pay. Proceeds of Crime Act 2002".

The car will be used at public events to highlight the police fight against drug dealing.

Six months ago the car's owner, Ian Judges, 37, from Albany Road, Hastings, was sentenced at Lewes Crown Court to four years in prison for possessing drugs with intent to supply.

Det Ch Insp Nigel Smith said: "The previous owner is in jail. He's lost his liberty and his motor.

"This is an eye-catching demonstration of our commitment to seize assets from those who profit from drug dealing and cause misery to others.

"It also shows that we will continue to target drug dealers at all levels."
