Three injured in sledge accident

Three men in their 20s have been treated for injuries they received while sledging in West Sussex.

Emergency services called to Devil's Dyke just before 2130 GMT on Monday found them at the foot of a steep hill.

One had broken ribs and suspected internal bleeding, while the other two had a fractured pelvis and shoulder.

South East Coast Ambulance Service said the men had to be rescued by a 4x4 support vehicle with the aid of a police helicopter's searchlight.

The patients were then transferred to an ambulance which took them to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, in Brighton.
