Members of the public in Sussex will be able to pay their respects to the late Henry Allingham, formerly the world's oldest man. Many local people have expressed an interest in paying their respects and have sent "thoughtful and touching" messages of condolence, say the police. The funeral with military honours will take place on 30 July in Brighton. The hearse will set out from St Dunstan's Centre in Ovingdean at 1100 BST. The procession will take the route to Marine Parade past the pier onto King's Road, West Street and Dyke Street before the final journey to the church. There will also be a screen erected in the church grounds to enable people to watch the service. Mr Allingham, one of the last surviving World War I servicemen, died at a care home for blind ex-service personnel in Ovingdean, near Brighton, earlier this month. Harry Patch , the last British survivor of the World War I trenches, died at the age of 111 on Saturday, a week after Mr Allingham's death.
