The doors of a �1.9m sports hall on Teesside were being opened for the first time on Saturday.
It has been built on Hartlepool's Headland and includes a sports hall for a range of sports including basketball, netball, cricket and volleyball.
Other facilities include a fitness suite, creche and changing areas.
It is part of the development of the Headland area of the town and the aim is that it will provide fitness and leisure opportunities to people.
The project has been funded by Sport England, Hartlepool Council, the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund, North Hartlepool Partnership and the European Regional Development Fund.
Council cabinet member for culture, housing and transportation, Councillor Robbie Payne. said: "This splendid new centre will open up a host of great fitness and leisure opportunities for people of all ages and marks an exciting new chapter for the Headland."
