People in Newcastle are being urged to look to their feet to enjoy public art.
Carved, black granite welcome mats have been installed in the pavements at the entrances to four of the city's most architecturally impressive buildings.
They have been designed by Newcastle-based artist Catherine Bertola and each of the paving works is different.
Their etched pattern takes its design from the unique architectural details of the specific buildings in front of which they are placed.
They have been sited at the authentic French chateau-styled Yates building, the 1874 Victoria Building with its Italianesque style, the former NatWest Bank building and the Chaucer buildings.
The Under Your Feet project was commissioned by the Grainger Town Partnership and funded by One NorthEast, and is inspired by the sandstone facades of the buildings that have earned international recognition.
Ms Bertola said: "The work has been made in direct response to the architecture of Grainger Town. The idea was to try and draw attention to some of the beautiful and historic buildings of the city that so often go unnoticed as people go about their daily business."
