Tall ships' celebrations unveiled
Tall ships
More than 100 ships are expected to take part in the race
The Tyneside leg of the Tall Ships' Race will be marked by special events, including a celebratory procession and a fireworks display.

More than 100 tall ships are expected to drop anchor on the River Tyne between 24 and 27 July.

On the final day they will line up at the mouth of the river for the start of the race to Fredrikstad in Norway.

On the previous evening there will be a performance featuring lighting, projections and music.

NewcastleGateshead hosted the Tall Ships' Race in 1993, but the quayside area has been transformed since then, and there are hopes that this year's event will be bigger and more spectacular.

More than 3,000 young people from 20 countries are expected to take part.
