Details of the first concert to be held at a new multi-million pound music venue on Tyneside have been announced.
The Academy Music Group (AMG) is spending �5m on the creation of its tenth live music venue in Newcastle.
The converted former bingo hall is due to open in October and will have a 2,400 person capacity.
The company says it has signed up London-based indie guitar band Athlete, to play the venue's inaugural concert on 27 October.
Residents close to the venue's Westgate Road site opposed the company's licensing application, fearing noise and anti-social behaviour.
But AGM has promised minimum noise and nuisance and a says it hopes to negotiate better late-night public transport facilities.
The venue will include a main room with a capacity of up to 2,000 and a separate "Academy 2" space for an additional 400 people.
Athlete are riding high on the success of their latest album Tourist, which reached number one in the charts.
