Thieves have stolen seven tortoises from a Northumberland garden centre.
Two Herman's variety tortoises were taken from Dobbies in Ponteland Road, Ponteland, between 20 and 21 April. Five more were stolen on Sunday.
The store was open on both occasions and the thieves stole the tortoises, worth �190 each, by lifting a glass lid off a tank.
Police said the animals needed specific living conditions and could die if not cared for correctly.
Officers want to speak anyone in the reptile trade who may have information.
