Tileshed nature reserve is being spoiled by fly tippers
A Tyneside Council is appealing for help to catch flytippers who are spoiling a wildlife haven.

South Tyneside Council believes unscrupulous businesses are spoiling Tileshed nature reserve in Boldon.

Officials say in the last fortnight a large number of dead trees and garden waste have been dumped at the site.

They are appealing for help to catch the culprits and want to hear from anyone who has paid a firm to cut down and clear their beech trees.

Coun Jim Sewell said: "Local nature reserves are for everyone to enjoy, and we cannot allow the irresponsible actions of individuals to spoil them for everyone else.

"Dumping rubbish looks terrible and council tax payers' money is having to be spent clearing up.

"If you or someone you know paid a firm to cut down and take away beech trees in the last two weeks, please get in touch."

Anyone with information is urged to call Clare Rawcliffe, local nature reserve officer on 0191 424 7423.
