Promise of more punctual trains
Central train
Timetable changes aim to make trains be more punctual
Passengers are being told a new timetable for weekday trains from Monday will help deal with overcrowding and delays in the West Midlands.

Shropshire-to-Birmingham services are to make extra stops at rural stations.

There are major changes to the former Nottingham to Birmingham and Hereford service, calling at Staffordshire and Worcestershire stations.

Central Trains has said the aims of the changes in the new timetable are to deal with existing problems.

NEW TIMETABLE CHANGES
Birmingham to Shrewsbury express services will call at Wellington, Oakengates, Shifnal, Cosford, Albrighton, Codsall and Bilbrook
Walsall to Wellington service replaced by a Wolverhampton to Walsall shuttle
Nottingham-Birmingham-Hereford through service ends
New Birmingham to Hereford and Worcester service with extra late trains
New Birmingham to Burton, Tamworth, Derby and Nottingham service
Some trains leave Walsall earlier to improve performance
Birmingham to Rugeley Trent Valley extended to Stafford on Saturday, replacing a bus link
Evening services at Worcester Shrub Hill amended to reduce station crowding
Longer trains with more seats out of Birmingham Snow Hill to Dorridge, Stratford upon Avon, Worcester and Great Malvern

Ged Burgess, from the firm, said it was about improving the services they already have.

He said: "There won't be more trains because we have all been down that route before and more trains mean rail congestion and the timetable becomes difficult to run.

"What it does mean is trains running more efficiently and therefore making the trains more punctual and that will be the key to this particular timetable."

Steve Banaghan, Managing Director of Central Trains said: "We have listened to the views of a range of stakeholders and I am pleased that we have been able to include some of their suggestions."
