Job cuts in Swindon
A total of 330 jobs are to be cut at a Swindon-based subsidiary of BMW.

Swindon Pressings Ltd will axe the staff over the coming year due to a reduction in third party customer contracts.

The company supplies the automotive industry with aluminium and steel pressings and employs 1,900 people in Swindon.

Cuts in both management and floor staff are being considered, with some people likely to be offered the possibility of relocation to a plant in Oxford.

A spokeswoman for the company told BBC News Online: "The future of the Swindon plant is secure.

"But we have to cut costs at the plant as the volume of work with third party customers is decreasing."
