Broadband schools' target reached
Wiltshire has achieved its aim of providing broadband technology in all 247 schools.

The final school to connect to broadband was Brinkworth Earl Danby's CofE Primary School in North Wiltshire.

Head teacher Laura Brierley said: "The school's computers have recently been upgraded and all classrooms will have interactive whiteboards by September."

The initiative is designed to help children access information held on the internet in a safe manner.

The scheme is also allowing schools to learn collaboratively in a secure environment, hold video conferences and gain access to a range of specially-commissioned digital learning resources.

Schools across the county have already been able to use the technology in classrooms to help children establish links with other schools.

"This enables lessons to be taught in innovative new ways and helps equip young people with the skills and knowledge they will need to meet the challenges they will face in a rapidly changing world," said councillor Nancy Bryant.
