Police hope this picture might jog memories

Vicky was last seen eating chips in the Bathgate's main street after returning from spending a weekend with her sister Sharon.

The only clue ever found by police was when her purse was discovered 11 days later in Edinburgh.

In 1993 her mother Janette died, without knowing what had happened to her daughter.

Detective Inspector Dick Peacock, of Lothian and Borders Police, said: "This weekend officers from Lothian and Borders police will have a high profile presence in Bathgate where we had the last confirmed sighting of Vicky buying a bag of chips in George Place.

"A police caravan will be in the main street and uniform police and CID officers will hand out flyers about Vicky's disappearance and speak to local people in the area about any recollections they may have."

DI Peacock said police are still convinced someone holds the key to solving the mystery.

Crimewatch appeal

"Despite extensive police enquiries and a Crimewatch appeal very little information about what may have happened to her after the last time she was seen came to light," he said.

"Her family have spent ten years with unanswered questions and Vicky's mother died in 1993 never knowing what happened to her daughter.

"We hope that this appeal for information 10 years after Vicky went missing may encourage people to come forward."

Vicky was described as 5ft 5inches tall, of slim to medium build, with brown eyes, when she went missing she had short black dyed hair.

At the time of her disappearance she was wearing blue jeans, a maroon tee-shirt, a grey sweatshirt with a Unisys logo, a black pilot's jacket and brown Hush Puppy shoes.
