Snakes stolen from zoo
A corn snake was one of two creatures stolen
Two non-poisonous snakes have been stolen from a zoo after thieves broke into the reptile house.
Strathclyde Police said a van and a tea room were also vandalised in the incident at Glasgow Zoo. Officers expressed concern for the creatures which require specialist feeding. The break-in at the reptile house was believed to have happened at about 0330 GMT on Sunday. A garter snake, which was described as about 2ft long and grey-brown with yellow stripes, and a 5ft-long red and white corn snake were stolen. Detective Constable Steven Crilly, of Shettleston CID, said: "I would urge anyone who has removed these snakes to return them immediately as the snakes require specialist feeding and attention. "If anyone has any information regarding the whereabouts of the snakes or the people responsible for the theft please telephone Shettleston Police Office on telephone number 0141 532 4800." |
