Shetland hosts Atlantic talks
Shetland
The conference will run for three days
Delegates from countries bordering the North Atlantic are gathering in Shetland for the start of a conference on the future of region.

At least seven countries will be represented at the second North Atlantic Conference, including Canada, Iceland, Norway and Denmark.

Shetland Islands Council is hosting the three day event in Lerwick.

Events will involve government ministers, as well as fishermen and scientists.

The three main themes for discussion are the management of fisheries, protecting the oceans and developing business, education and cultural links across the North Atlantic region.

The proceedings begin informally on Tuesday evening with a talk by a former swordfish fisherman from Maine in the US.

Linda Greenlaw is the real-life skipper of the sister vessel of George Clooney's doomed fishing boat from the Hollywood epic A Perfect Storm.
