Pay deal halts bus driver walkout
Drivers
Drivers have put the brakes on further strike action
Strike action threatened for next week by First Bus drivers in east and central Scotland has been called off.

Staff have been operating a Saturday service all week but the normal timetable will resume on Monday.

Leaders of the T&G will recommend that their members accept a revised pay offer and pensions deal ahead of a vote on Wednesday.

Hundreds of drivers, who currently receive between 7.25 and 7.40, are being offered 8 per hour.

The planned stoppage was due to follow previous one and two-day walkouts.

Travel disruption

The union, which argued the employees had no alternative but to go on strike, had called for 8 an hour but First Bus had said its pay offer was reasonable.

Strike action affected more than 300 services and caused problems for about 100,000 commuters.

Services operating in the city of Edinburgh, central Scotland, West Lothian, East Lothian and Midlothian were hit.

Management apologised to customers for the disruption.
