Caller plea in sex offender hunt
Martin Cusick
Police said Cusick is not considered an "immediate risk" to the public
Police trying to trace a sex offender who has gone missing from his home in the Glasgow area have urged a mystery caller to get back in touch.

Former police officer Martin Cusick, 52, who abused three girls, has been missing from his home in Clarkston since October 2005.

However a public appeal for information was only launched this week.

Officers have now urged a caller who contacted Crimestoppers on Monday night to phone in again.

Detective Inspector Sam Carson, who is leading the hunt, said there had been a good response to the appeal.

"I am encouraged by the support received from members of the public and in particular I am interested in a call received by Crimestoppers on Monday evening," he said.

The force said they had been carrying out "extensive inquiries" to trace Cusick, who was jailed for five years in 1996 for lewd and libidinous behaviour against three children aged between six and 12.

A police spokeswoman said Cusick, who has an estranged twin brother living in Glasgow, was not considered an "immediate risk" but people were advised not to approach him and to report any sightings.
