More NHS Highland staff have been washing their hands than seven months ago when just 59% of employees were meeting national hygiene standards.
The health authority said 93% were now compliant with strict rules on cleanliness, according to an audit.
Director of nursing, Heidi May, described it as "an excellent performance" and thanked staff for taking hygiene training on board.
Further audits of hand washing on wards will be done later this year.
