Developers behind a proposal to build 550 homes at Sandown on the outskirts of Nairn have said they hoped to start work on the site next year.
Deveron Highland and partner Servite Housing Association will press ahead with the 100m scheme in the face of a slow down in the housing market.
The economic climate has seen Tulloch - a local major employer - cut jobs.
Deveron Highland spokesman Mark Cummings said the Huntly-based firm was committed to the project.
He said: "We have no concerns in terms of this development in current market conditions.
"Quite the reverse, we are very positive about it."
