The salmon fishing season has got under way on the River Dee with a prediction 2009 could be a record year for bookings.
Broadcaster Clive Anderson opened the river with a quaich of whisky before taking the first cast at Potarch.
Scores of anglers, river staff and members of the public saw the launch.
River director of the Dee District Salmon Fishery Board, Mark Bilsby, said he was optimistic that it could be one of their busiest years yet.
Mr Bilsby said: "We can look forward to the coming salmon season with some optimism.
"All the work carried out in the Dee catchment over the last decade - particularly on catch and release and habitat restoration - is paying dividends.
"Bookings for the river are up by 20% compared to the same time in 2008, which was itself a record year. This is despite the credit crunch and is testimony to the excellence of the fishing that the Dee offers, coupled with the good value and high quality of the facilities on Deeside."
