Plans have been put forward to try to tackle traffic problems near to a Dalbeattie primary school.
Dumfries and Galloway Council has proposed a range of measures to address concerns about traffic on Maxwell Street close to St Peter's Primary.
A permanent 20mph limit, speed bumps and pavement widening are among the proposals by the authority.
South of Scotland SNP MSP Alasdair Morgan welcomed the move - particularly to tackle problems with HGVs.
"Maxwell Street is very narrow in places and when two lorries meet each other travelling in opposite directions the road is completely blocked," he said.
'Other projects'
Mr Morgan added that the fact that it was a bus route and close to a school was a good reason for introducing traffic calming measures.
"There are other projects in Dalbeattie which are still in need of attention, not least the road layout outside Dalbeattie Primary," he said.
