More than 16,000 people have applied for postal votes
More than 1,600 people in Dumfries and Galloway have yet to receive their postal voting papers.

A total of 16,616 electors applied for a postal vote and 15,000 were issued on Monday and Tuesday.

A statement from the returning officer said the remainder had now been issued and should be received by Saturday.

Anyone who has not got their papers by Monday can obtain a replacement from main council offices in Stranraer, Kirkcudbright, Dumfries and Annan.

A council statement added that the printing of ballot papers was part of a national contract and outwith the control of individual returning officers.
