Guided tour
HRH The Duke of Edinburgh was also in the city on Monday as part of a royal tour which included a visit to Sensation, Dundee's award winning science centre and visitor attraction, and the Frigate Unicorn.
He then re-joined with the Queen for lunch at The Shore community centre.
At Sensation, His Royal Highness was received by the Deputy Lord Provost, Councillor Joe Morrow.
Sensation's chief executive, Paul Jennings then led the royal party on a guided tour of the centre including the new "Vanishing Ice" exhibition.
There the Duke met the centre's staff, members of the junior and senior boards and saw a specially created polar Magic Planet show.
"Vanishing Ice", which opens in July, explores the polar regions to discover what the effects of climate change and the receding ice caps may be on the rest of the planet and what we can do to minimize the impact we are having on the environment.
Paul Jennings, Sensation's chief executive, said: "It is an honour that the Duke of Edinburgh has agreed to take time out of his very busy schedule to visit us."
