Police in youth crime offensive
Teenagers
Police said parents should know where their children are
Police have launched an offensive on youth crime in part of Dundee following a barrage of complaints from residents.

The Tayside force said they had received constant calls about trouble at the Whitfield Shopping Centre over the last few months.

Officers said underage drinkers and other troublemakers found in the area would be taken to a police station and their parents asked to collect them.

The crackdown has included increasing foot patrols in the area.

Sgt Steve Main said: "We are concerned about the number of youths we find who are under the influence of alcohol.

"We will not tolerate any conduct or behaviour that prevents the local community from living their lives in peace and quiet."

He added that parents had a "huge responsibility" to find out where their children were in the evenings.
