Villagers in Glenfarg must raise the money by 30 June
|
A Perthshire village has given itself just 40 days to raise the 40,000 needed to save its community hall.
The Glenfarg Village Hall Committee has launched the appeal in a bid to meet the shortfall in its 350,000 budget to regenerate the facility.
The hall acts as the meeting point for most of Glenfarg's 30 clubs and associations.
But the committee has warned it could face closure if the restoration money is not raised by 30 June.
The hall, which was originally built as the village school 100 years ago, must be upgraded to meet modern health and safety requirements.
'Very excited'
The hall committee has already raised a total of 310,000 from funding sources including the Big Lottery Fund and Perth and Kinross Council.
Committee secretary Pierette Melville said she was confident the 40,000 in 40 Days campaign would encourage villagers and anyone else who had ever used the hall to help make up the shortfall.
She added: "With just 40 days to go we are 40,000 short of our target to be able to start work so we've launched our 40,000 in 40 Days Appeal and are asking people to get behind the scheme one last time
"We are very excited to be nearing the end of what has been a long and complicated process to apply for funding and assistance to regenerate Glenfarg village hall."
People can contribute to the appeal by 'buying' a brick in the new extension for 1 each. Families can also sponsor a toilet or donate 250 towards a new roof.
