31 August, 2002 - Couple fly from Manchester to Malaga.
1 September - Couple meet estate agent to discuss buying properties.

2 September - O'Malleys go with agent to open Spanish bank account.
4 September - Linda O'Malley phones daughter in final contact.
8-13 September - Unusual purchases on the couple's credit card begin.
12 September - Hire car not returned to airport as scheduled.
13 September - O'Malleys fail to show for return flight.
23 September - Auction for Villajoyosa holiday home unattended.
Family begin appeals
2 October - The family of the missing couple fly to Spain to assist a police search and make an emotional plea for help from the area's ex-patriate community.
6 October - Two extra British police officers fly to Spain to help investigate the disappearance of the couple.
14 October - Detectives investigating the disappearance fly home.
24 October - Mrs O'Malley's daughter, Nicola Welch, makes a direct appeal on the BBC's Crimewatch programme for her parents to get in touch.
25 October - Around 50 viewers contact the Crimewatch programme offering possible new information on the couple.
21 November - A body found earlier in the month alongside the A7 road in the Villajoyosa region of Benidorm is ruled out of inquiry.
Breakthrough after arrests
16 December - The family ask the Foreign Office for help in tracing the pair.
5 March, 2003 - A BBC Wales documentary reveals new sighting of the couple, accompanied by a mystery man, viewing a villa in the hills behind the town of Villajoyosa.
25 March - Two couples, including two Venezuelan men, are arrested after they are found to be driving - on false registration plates - the car which the O'Malleys had hired in August. Two bodies are later found a property near Villajoyosa.
26 March - Spanish murder detectives say the bodies are those of the O'Malleys.
22 September - Mr and Mrs O'Malley's funeral held in Saltney, Chester.
Trial in Spain
11 April, 2004 - Trial of two Venezuelan suspects begins in Spain.
28 March, 2006 - Evidence against Jorge Real Sierra and Juan Antonio Velazquez Gonzalez begins in front of panel of three judges.
5 April - Trail ends with judgement reserved for several weeks.
