"Nothing post-1980". That's the promise of the very first Vintage Fashion Fair taking place in the city this weekend. For lovers of old lace, the softest of velvets and hats to die for, this could be just the thing to stretch your imagination as well as your wallet. The Fair stalls carry everything from Victoriana and Edwardiana to the 1970s and everything in between including menswear, accessories and jewellery.
There is a strict dateline of nothing after 1980, there will be no reproduction items and no fur available. You'll be able to browse, try and buy from over 30 stall-holders claiming to bring the finest vintage clothing from right across the UK. Representing our little part of the UK will be Pippa Sandison from Boudoir Femme in King Street - she'll be there with the best of the rest flying the flag for Cambridge.
The Fair's organiser, Edwin Dyson claims that he's chosen to descend on Cambridge because of the large number of young people at the universities, coupled with the fact that the city itself is full of "some seriously well-dressed people"! Come along on Sunday 11th February and prove him right! |
