What was it like making your acting debut in such a large-scale movie?
Start as you mean to go on, I guess! Because it was my very first movie, I think it was great that it was so big and technical - very challenging, long hours, and so on. Anything else I do after this will be easy - well, easier! It was a great movie to start with.
Had you always intended to move into movies?
It was something I thought maybe, further down the line... when I started out, it was all about the music, so I wasn't really thinking about other things. I don't have a big game plan: it's just going along with everything that happens.
How do you think your fans will react to the film?
I'm not sure. I'm very picky, and I'm never 100% happy with the work I do; I hate watching myself and hearing my voice. But it was a little bit easier here because I was playing someone else. Hopefully the fans will like it as well.
There was some talk about you being involved in the "Matrix" sequels...
There was talk, but it never got as far as a screen test or anything. It was all a bit strange, because the film was already cast. It was all very sad and awful because of what happened to Aaliyah [who died in a plane crash last summer], and for me to have stepped into her shoes would have been far too weird - you know, that singer's gone, let's get another one. They've now gone with another actress, Nona Gaye, who's a lot older.
Finally, were the Morlocks as scary in real life as they are in the film?
They were really scary. I've grown to love them now, but when we were filming there was not a whole lot of acting involved - I was genuinely scared.
