St Martin's, one of the city's most modern churches, is well known across the world as the last resting place for members of the Special Air Service. ![]() One of the memorials Although the elite regiment have now moved from their old base at Stirling Lines, just past the church, their former members are still buried at St Martin's. The SAS graves are situated next to the wall at the back of the church, and are easily identifiable due to their distinct white stones and grey wall tablets. The graves date from 1974 through to 2004, a reminder that conflict is constantly taking place across the world. Many of the men died during the Falklands war, and more recent deaths have taken place in Afghanistan and during the first Iraq war. last updated: 04/12/2008 at 13:14 You are in: Hereford and Worcester > Places > Places Stories > The SAS church
