You don’t need to know your acid house from your electronica or your gabba from your psy trance in the world of dance music to have heard of Basement Jaxx.

The duo rose to mainstream fame with hits such as Romeo, Where’s Your Head At and Rendez-vu.

Felix B, one half of the Basement Jaxx partnership, will be DJing at the Watersplash on Saturday 24 November 2007.

He told BBC Jersey that revellers can expect his set to be “mostly house based – very Basement Jaxx sort of flavour with all sorts of styles in it”.

Whilst he’s no stranger to performing for thousands of people at Wembley Felix likes to play the occasional intimate venue like Jersey:

“It’s nice to have a small crowd of people and just have a party together…generally I don’t do much DJing, I just do it to keep an interest in it and to keep it as something that I enjoy.”

He believes that one of the most important ways to approach  DJing is to be your own person:

“Obviously you want to play the big tunes and get the party going but just do it in your own way and not be scared to be different – I think that way people are going to notice what you do.”

He also thinks that it’s important for DJs, whether amateur or a megastar, to remember that they’re there to please the crowd:

“There are people there to have a good time and it’s not just you showing off – you gotta think of everybody and try and do the best music you can.”

Despite finding international success Felix said that he tried to keep his feet firmly planted on the ground:

“I’ve always appreciated people who are down to earth so I’ve always just tried to be.”

He also believes that people should be open-minded about music and never be ashamed of what they’re into:

“People should never be embarrassed about their tastes – if they enjoy it and it makes them happy then it’s cool. They should just tell everyone else to get a life.”

Felix B will be supported by a whole host of Jersey DJs plus there will be live music on offer from the likes of The Author and Martha High in the Live Room.
