Jersey driver James Walker will be demonstrating his 500bhp Formula Renault 3.5 as part of the 2008 Battle of Flowers parade. He’ll drive the car up and down the arena to signal the start of both the main afternoon and moonlight parades. “It’s going to be a great atmosphere I think,” said the Jersey-born racer, “it’s going to be a great chance for people to get up close to the team and myself, I can’t wait.” Walker told BBC Jersey he first had the idea to demonstrate his car in the island around a year ago, but had struggled to find sponsorship to do so. ![]() Walker's drive-by will signal the start of Battle “It’s very difficult to try and find the financial backing to explain to people what the car is like and how it sounds and how fantastic they are in the flesh. “To have the chance to show people that and get the public up close to it is going to be fantastic,” he said. Walker is currently mid-way through his second season competing in the Renault World Series.
