Robert's Listed Listeners

Three of Robert's regular listeners had the chance to answer the famous 15 questions and join the lauded ranks of the Listed Londoners.

Have a look below at what Rosie from Wimbledon, Adam in Surbiton and cab driver Tony had to say when Robert put them on the spot!

Waterloo Bridge

Waterloo Bridge at night

TONY, Cab Driver - Born in Stepney, Tony used to be a docker but now drives a cab.

1. WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE NEIGHBOURHOOD? "Stepney, Mile End and Whitechapel - where I grew up. I get back there occasionally, but most of the boozers I used to drink in are now all closed down."
2. WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE BUILDING? "I love the Old St Pancras Station because I used to hang around there with my cab driver mates. They used to call us The St Pancras Rangers. It's as much about the people who used to go there as the place itself."
3. WHAT'S YOUR MOST HATED BUILDING? "The Public Carriage Office. Its got 'fear' written all over it. When I was doing 'the knowledge' there was an instructor there called Mr Finlay. He used to put the fear of God into you. I did 'the knowledge' with an ex-Paratrooper and he said he'd rather jump out of a plane than talk to Mr Finlay."
4. WHAT'S THE BEST VIEW OF LONDON? "It's got to be Waterloo Bridge at night."
5. WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE OPEN SPACE? "When I was a kid, I used to live very close to Victoria Park. I used to run round there, five or six miles a morning. It had a boating lake and a fun fair that we used to go to as kids."

Harrods

Harrods

Adam from Surbiton - Moved from Sussex to London aged 19. He's now 47... The same age as Robert!

6. WHAT'S THE MOST INTERESTING SHOP? "The wonderful Food Hall in Harrods. In particular, the fish counter. I never go into the rest of the shop."
7. WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE BAR, PUB OR RESTAURANT? "For me, it's got to be the restaurant at the top of The Oxo Tower. Just for the view."
8. WHAT'S BEEN YOUR MOST MEMORABLE NIGHT OUT IN LONDON? "I go out with my friends a lot and we're jazz hounds. So the best night out would have to end up at Ronnie Scott's. I also love the Brixton Academy and Shepherd's Bush Empire."
9. HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO SPEND YOUR IDEAL DAY OFF IN LONDON? "I'm a friend at the Royal Academy and the Tate Modern. So I'd go in the Friends Room at the Tate, have a glass of Chardonnay. Then I would sit outside Bar Italia in Soho and have a pizza, and then over the road to Ronnie Scott's. And if not that, a good West End play."
10. WHERE WOULD YOU TAKE SOMEONE VISITING FROM OUT OF TOWN? "I'd show them the view from the Members Room at Tate Modern. And we'd go to the top of Richmond Hill, get a pint from the Roebuck and sit outside and look at the view. Then you can say London's the best city in the world."

Artful Dodger

Artful Dodger

ROSIE in Wimbledon - She's a hypnotherapist with two teenage sons. Loves Robert's show... But thinks we should have more women as Listed Londoners

11. WHAT'S THE WORST JOURNEY YOU'VE EVER HAD TO TAKE? "Any of the days I was commuting into town, in a hot tube, melting and nobody gave me a seat even though I was pregnant."
12. WHAT'S YOUR PERSONAL LONDON LANDMARK? "I'd choose Tate Modern. It is fantastic and very imposing and it's transformed the South Bank. From Wimbledon you can see the Gherkin and the Eye and it all looks beautiful."
13. WHO'S YOUR FAVOURITE FICTIONAL CHARACTER? "I have to say the Artful Dodger. I think I always wanted to be him, in a way. Oliver Twist was probably the first big film I ever saw."
14. WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE LONDON FILM, BOOK OR DOCUMENTARY? "There's a book called Fingersmith by Sarah Walters. Fantastic stories and characters. Just brilliant. A bit of a Gothic mystery or thriller."
15. IF YOU COULD TRAVEL TO ANY PERIOD IN LONDON WHERE WOULD YOU GO? "I'd go back to the Sixties. I was too young to really enjoy it and I think it would be great to be a teenager at the time."
