I was born in Hertfordshire but for the last ten years I have made Yorkshire my home. Art is in my blood and as far back as I can remember I have always been drawn to art in its many forms. When I worked in London I used to spend my lunch hours visiting art galleries. At weekends I would experiment with colour and oils and try to emulate my favourite artists. One day I made a life changing decision; my children had left home and were at university, I decided that now it was time for me. I gave up my career in London and took an Access course in Art and Design. I followed that with a degree in History of Art at York university. I stayed in Yorkshire after taking the degree and now that I am retired I have time to immerse myself in my painting. Current work I belong to the East Riding Pastel Society and so much of my current work is in pastel but I believe that variety is the spice of life and so I don't limit my paintings to pastels only. I work with oils, watercolour and acrylics too and very often I find that my choice of medium is usually governed by my mood and, strangely enough, by the weather. I enjoy painting a wide variety of subjects, anything from still life to seascapes. And of course, living in Yorkshire means that I have access to a rich diversity of landscape material right on my doorstep and so I take full advantage of that. I have exhibited locally and most recently in Wilberfoss, Burnby Hall and at Oak House, Pocklington. Further examples of my work can also be found on the East Riding Pastel Society web site.
