I live and work in North Yorkshire. For the past 2 years I have been working on site
in the landscape, predominantly Upper Wharfedale and Arncliffe. There is a huge
variety in this landscape from meadow, fell and moorland.

Art is my language, my means of making sense of the world. I work continually in my studio and out in the landscape. My love of paint and the process of painting are central to my life.

My work to date has focused on the landscape and figures in the landscape. Although I have painted the occasional portrait or still life, my chief subject has been the immensity of the landscape, containing perhaps a tiny human presence.

My art-school training has been at Chelsea, Brighton and Manchester. I've gained further art experience through visits to great collections in Britain and abroad, and wide knowledge of the world through travelling and working in diverse places.

"Art is my language, my means of making sense of the world."

Continuous study of artists is especially important to me. In particular, Turner, whose painting techniques I investigate at first hand and through experts’ analyses.

After attaining my BA and MA at art schools in the UK I travelled and painted
abroad, mainly in the Far East and Australia before making my home and adjacent
studio in Yorkshire.

I have exhibited widely throughout England. As part of a global touring exhibition I had my first exhibition in Australia at the Bundaberg Arts Centre in Queensland in December 2005 and this will be followed by an exhibition at the Benalla Art gallery, Victoria, Australia.

Part solo and group exhibitions include: Harewood House, Abbot Hall Art Gallery (Kendal), York City Art Gallery, Manchester City Art Gallery, Glyndebourne (Sussex) and the National Trust Centenary Exhibition (Osterly Park).

Currently I have been working on a set of paintings that will be exhibited at The
Arts Club on Dover Street in London from 8th – 25th November 2006. The exhibition
will be opened by The Duke of Devonshire on the 8th November 2006.
