James Morrison

Brits winner in the Forest

Brit Awards winner James Morrison has been lined up to play an open air gig in Nottinghamshire in the summer.

James Morrison @ Sherwood Pines Forest Park
Start Date:29/06/2007
Prices:adult £23.50
Telephone Number:01842 814612
Genres:Live Music

James Morrison is to play at Sherwood Pines Forest Park near Clipstone, Nottinghamshire, on Friday 29 June 2007.

He'll be part of a weekend of live music with Travis performing in the open air on the Saturday.

Organisers anticipate a sell-out 5,000 crowd in the 3,000 acre beauty spot, near Edwinstowe.

Summer gigs in the Forest began in 2001. Since then the venue has played host to Paul Weller, Pulp, Status Quo, UB40, Embrace and Jools Holland.

The gig will be supporting the Forestry Commission's social and environmental programmes with money raised being used to care for woodlands in the East Midlands.

Who is James Morrison?

James Morrison brings a dose of blues and soul to the pop scene with a gravelly voice that lends him a sense of gritty experience. Ironically, his distinctive singing voice may be the result of severe illness soon after birth.

The 22-year-old singer-songwriter scored a number one with his debut album Undiscovered in August 2006 which sold 850,000 copies in just five months.

Singles like You Give Me Something, Wonderful World and Pieces Don't Fit Anymore have become playlist priority for radio stations across the UK.

He's recently been named Best British male solo artist at the Brit Awards 2007 beating Jarvis Cocker, Lemar, Paolo Nutini and Thom Yorke.

Tickets

Tickets cost £23.00 and are available from 9.00am on Thursday 22 February. Tickets are also available online. You'll find more details on James Morrison's official site.
