Remembering Dolly Parton

It's hard to overestimate the important of Dolly Parton in music in general, not only the 1970s and the country scene. In the 70s alone, she managed to navigate her career in what had traditionally been a man's world of country music. As an artist, she not only wrote her own material but also quietly forged her own career path - famously not granting Elvis permission to record her song 'I Will Always Love You', because she refused to give up half the publishing rights!

Dolly died this week aged 80 and Shaun will remember her and her impact on 70s music, with help from Bob Harris who interviewed Dolly for the BBC in 2023 and an archive chat from Dolly and Johnnie Walker which was recorded for Sounds of the 70s in 2014.
