Jazz Re:freshed and DJ Sylvester of Latin Rave Street Jam
Gilles picks new tunes and celebrates British Black jazz from the 2010s with Alanna Henry from Jazz Re:freshed. Plus, words and music with DJ Sylvester to close the show.
Black season in collaboration with the V&A East Museum, and invites Alanna Henry, event producer at Jazz Re:freshed, to share some tracks and chat about their role in supporting unrepresented talent.
Elsewhere in the show, we hear an extract from the Prom celebrating Miles Davis Centenary that took place at the Royal Albert Hall last week, featuring American jazz trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire with the BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by Miho Hazama.
And for the last 30, Gilles warms up for Carnival with a special guest in the studio, DJ Sylvester of The Latin Rave Street Jam, the only sound system playing salsa and Latin music at the Notting Hill Carnival.
