Cosmic country sounds with Zakia… ft. Jeffrey Silverstein

DJ, broadcaster, writer, and dreamer Zakia Sewell provides the soundtrack to your dreams - playing music to ease the mind, soothe the soul, and open portals to new dimensions…

Zakia reaches for country-tinged tunes, with lots of crackly guitars and cosmic cowboy sounds from around the world, including Swedish 70s pop quartet Family Four, Madagascan guitar pioneer Damily and some yodelling from South Africa’s Michael Majozi. There’s plenty of Americana sounds as well, from the supergroups of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and The Highwaymen, to iconic solo artists like Jim Reeves, Jerron Paxton and Dolly Parton, with a bit of Ennio Morricone thrown in there as well.

And our theme continues into the Dreambience mix put together by tonight’s special guest, Portland guitarist Jeffrey Silverstein. He shares the inspiration behind his new album Doggone, his love for the pedal steel guitar, and a nostalgic autumnal mix of wistful country selections.
