Vivid percussion-and-voice rhythms of the 20th century contrast with the choral consolation of the ancient. The Gesualdo Six and the Colin Currie Group come together for a Late-Night Prom that combines the Christian meditations of the Renaissance – choral works by composers including Hildegard of Bingen, Machaut, Josquin and Pérotin – with Steve Reich’s take on traditional Hebrew Psalms in his ecstatic, deeply moving Tehillim.
