The 2026 BBC Reith Lectures: "Earth: The Ladder and the Web" by Robert Macfarlane

Random draw closed

In this year’s Reith Lectures, writer Robert Macfarlane argues that a belief in human superiority has brought us to the brink of planetary catastrophe.

His first lecture, Earth: The Ladder and the Web, traces the rise and consolidation of the ‘human superiority complex’ - the belief we are perched atop a ladder of life, rather than entangled in a web - beginning with one of the earliest works of world literature, The Epic of Gilgamesh.

The lecture will be chaired by presenter, journalist and author, Anita Anand.

Tickets will be allocated by random draw.

You can register at any time until 10pm on Wednesday 30 September.

You can apply for a maximum of two tickets.
