The 2026 BBC Reith Lectures: "Air: the Great Thinning" by Robert Macfarlane

Random draw closed

In this year’s Reith Lectures, writer Robert Macfarlane argues that a belief in human superiority has brought us to the brink of planetary catastrophe.

In his second lecture, Air: The Great Thinning, he uses birds to examine some of the consequences of human exceptionalism, and shows how recent scientific breakthroughs are disclosing the superpowers of other life-forms, thereby challenging the paradigm of our uniqueness.

The lecture will be chaired by presenter, journalist and author, Anita Anand.

Tickets will be allocated by random draw.

You can register at any time until 10pm on Wednesday 30 September.

You can apply for a maximum of two tickets.
