Hector Berlioz: The Damnation of Faust (continued) John Osborn (Faust) Véronique Gens (Marguerite) Gerald Finley (Méphistophélès) Thomas Dolié (Brander) Maîtrise de Radio France Chœur de Radio France Les Siècles Jakob Lehmann (conductor) Berlioz’s ‘Dramatic Legend’ The Damnation of Faust is an operatic thrill-ride, a tour de force for orchestra, chorus and soloists that throws all of music’s capacity at one simple question: what is the price of the human soul? A story of heaven and hell, of demons and angels is best staged in sound and imagination – too cinematic for the confines of the stage. Jakob Lehmann and the period musicians of Les Siècles bring it to life in a concert performance with an international cast of soloists, including American tenor John Osborn in the title role, Gerald Finley and Véronique Gens.
