Shrewsbury defender Anderson joins Carlisle on loan

Carlisle United have signed defender Tom Anderson on loan from Shrewsbury Town until the end of December.

Anderson, 33, has played 40 games for the League Two club including five this season, but he will now drop into the league below to help the struggling Cumbrian side.

He did have a previous loan spell at Brunton Park nearly 12 years ago from Burnley in which he made nine appearances.

"It's a great opportunity for me, and I'll do everything I can to help the team. I'll bring my experience, work hard every day and give everything for the shirt," he told the club's website, external.

Carlisle are currently 19th in the league after only two wins in their opening 10 games.
