Former Peterborough manager Steve Evans has backed Robbie Savage to make the relationship with chairman Darragh MacAnthony work if he is appointed Posh boss.
Savage is reportedly set to leave Forest Green for London Road and Evans revealed he had been speaking to the former Wales midfielder about his experience working under MacAnthony.
Speaking to the BBC's 72+ EFL podcast, Bristol Rovers boss Evans said: "I've been speaking to Robbie quite a lot in the past few days.
"He's trying to do his homework, his diligence, on what Darragh is like, what [director of football] Barry Fry is like, other than the character everyone sees via the media.
"He is trying to understand a bit more about the club."
Evans said MacAnthony had "shown more patience" to outgoing boss Luke Williams than he had to him when the Scot was sacked after 11 months in 2019.
"This would have been a drawn-out, meticulous process," Evans said. "Barry (Fry) told me there were five candidates coming in to see them. My understanding from other people is that Robbie's enthusiasm stood out a million percent.
"For me it's a club that needs a character.
"Darren Ferguson was a character, Grant McCann was a character. I tried to be. They need someone and I think that's probably where Darragh's edging to... and Robbie's done well."
As for a potential clash of big personalities, Evans added: "I think it'll work. I've worked for Darragh, he's a hard guy for sure, but I think the personality [element] will work.
"He's one of those chairman you can have a row with, it's how you put that opinion across. You have to do it respectful. It won't be once or twice, it'll be more than that.
"I think he'll get brilliant support from Barry Fry. People underestimate the role that Barry plays, he protects you on a bad day from the chairman.
"I'm a Posh fan. I live in the city, I can see that chemistry working.
"Robbie has to work hard to make that relationship work because it's Darragh's club, but he gets into League One and a wonderful opportunity."
