West Indies win the toss and put England into bat in their Group D match. Chris Gayle is fit for the home side while England surprisingly leave out James Anderson, with Ryan Sidebottom named in their XI
Hampshire opener Michael Lumb makes a good impression on his debut, hitting an aggressive 28 from 18 balls before being bowled by Gayle in the third over
Fellow Twenty20 debutant Craig Kieswetter follows Lumb's lead and smacks three sixes before falling for 26 off 14 balls - but England are well set on 66-2 in the seventh over
Captain Paul Collingwood misses a straight one and is out for six, with Darren Sammy taking the wicket, as England stutter after their blazing start
Kevin Pietersen starts well and looks intent on posting a big innings. However, Sammy gets his man for 24 and England are 88-4 at the halfway stage
Eoin Morgan takes up the challenge in stunning style, blasting 55 off 35 balls, including three sixes and three fours, to give England a great chance of a huge total
Luke Wright helps Morgan put on 95, including 27 off Ravi Rampaul in the 18th over, as England take the hosts' rather powder-puff bowling apart
Even the home fans seem to be enjoying England's spectacular six-hitting display. Wright hits four maximums in an unbeaten 45 from only 27 balls and England finish on 191-5
West Indies reach 30-0 after two balls of the third over when rain falls and the players come off. For a while it looks like there will be no result, but the rain does eventually cease
When play resumes, the Duckworth/Lewis method calculates the hosts need 30 runs from 22 balls, to the bafflement of most. Graeme Swann bags two scalps, but Andre Fletcher hits the winning runs with a ball to spare
In the day's opening match Sri Lanka who, having lost to New Zealand on Friday need to beat Zimbabwe to stay in the competition, lose opener Tillakeratne Dilshan in the third over
But Mahela Jayawardene is in sensational form, smashing boundaries all around the Providence Stadium, and three sixes help him bring up his fifty off just 27 balls
The classical Jayawardene does not have much support from his team-mates - indeed only two other Sri Lanka batsmen get into double figures
Jayawardene becomes only the fourth player to hit an international Twenty20 century, completing his wonderful 100 off 63 balls, with 10 fours, four sixes and a strike rate of 158.73
Jayawardene is out next ball and Sri Lanka's innings finishes shortly afterwards on 173-9. Zimbabwe reach 4-0 before rain stops play for an hour
Play resumes and Zimbabwe reach 29-1 from five overs, chasing a revised 104 from 11 overs. But more rain results in the match being called off, with Sri Lanka the winners by 14 runs under the Duckworth/Lewis method
