Chelsea are set to make Jose Mourinho the richest manager in the world by giving him a deal worth a staggering 10m a year. (Sunday Mirror)

But they'll have to hurry to agree terms, as Real Madrid are plotting an audacious bid to bring Mourinho to Spain. (Mail on Sunday)

Should he move to Madrid, though, Mourinho is likely to be without playmaker Luis Figo, who wants to play in the Premiership next season. Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle are all interested. (The People)

Another midfielder set to quit Real is Thomas Gravesen, who may be on his way back to Goodison Park in the summer after being deemed surplus to requirements in Spain. (Various)

There's a host of Spanish interest in the Premiership on Sunday. Barcelona are planning to swoop for Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson and are willing to pay 6m for his services. (Sunday Mirror)

And Manchester United are also interested in the player but have been told it will cost them 8m, and not 6m. (The People)

Meanwhile, Robinson's current employers Tottenham head the queue to sign Argentina's Juan Roman Riquelme from Barcelona. He is expected to cost the Londoners 5m. (The People)

But one player certainly not on his way to White Hart Lane is Newcastle's Lee Bowyer, according to Tottenham boss Martin Jol. (Sunday Mirror)

And they might fund that with the sale of Simon Davies, a 2.8m target for Everton. (The People)

Staying on Merseyside, Liverpool are set to bring Michael Owen back to Anfield after just one season away from the club. (Various)

Former Anfield favourite Jamie Redknapp will pledge his future to Southampton should the Premiership strugglers stay in the top flight at the end of the season. (Sunday Mirror)

And dad Harry is lining up a south-coast swoop for Portsmouth midfielder Patrik Berger. (Daily Star)

Further up the Premiership table, Robert Pires's Arsenal future is in doubt after Arsene Wenger rejected his appeals for a long-term contract. (News of the World)

Wenger also has his eye on Lokomotiv Moscow midfielder Marat Izmailov. The 22-year-old is expected to cost 4m. (News of the World)

And the Gunners are set to pip rivals Tottenham to the post in signing Czech Republic midfielder Tomas Rosicky from Borussia Dortmund. (Mail on Sunday)

There are plenty of whisperings at Newcastle, who want to strengthen their defence by signing Lyon left back Eric Abidal for upwards of 5m. (The People)

Dutch striker Dirk Kuyt is another Toon target, with Newcastle happy to pay 6m for the player's services. (News of the World)

Kuyt's countryman George Boateng is set to pledge his future to Middlesbrough by signing a two-year contract extension. (Various)

But Boro manager Steve McClaren will insist on a get-out clause in any new deal at the Riverside Stadium to allow him to take over from England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson. (Various)

In the midlands, Birmingham's Mario Melchiot has called on Chelsea's Scott Parker to quit the Premiership leaders and move to the midlands in the summer. (Sunday Mirror)

Birmingham will make a fresh attempt to sign out-of-favour Newcastle striker Craig Bellamy. (News of the World)

And Steve Bruce's side, along with Everton, are the favourites to sign Blackburn defender Ryan Nelsen. (News of the World)
