Glenavon yet to speak to Coyle
Roy Coyle
Roy Coyle left the Newry City job a year ago
Roy Coyle says that Glenavon have yet to approach him about the possibility of taking over at Mourneview Park.

Coyle told BBC Sport that he now has the desire and enthusiasm to return to football. However, he said that as yet nobody has contacted him.

"I feel I'm really ready to return now," he said. "The itch is back.

"Of course if Glenavon came knocking I would be interested. Who wouldn't? They are a wonderful club, but they've been underachieving for years."

Coyle's last involvement in the Irish League was last January when he resigned as Newry City boss.

"I heard that they are inviting applications," said Coyle. "I hardly think anybody would want to look at my cv, would they?"

Over the years, the 60-year-old former international midfielder has been the Irish League's most successful manager, having been in charge at Glentoran, Linfield, Derry City, Ards and Newry City winning 50 trophies in a success-filled career.

The Lurgan Blues have been looking for a new boss since board of directors terminated Colin Malone's contract last week.

Coyle described Glenavon as a "massive club" with "great potential".
