Young Chelsea midfielder Lee Sawyer has finally put pen to paper on a six-month loan contract with Southend United.
The 19-year-old will be allowed to play in the Carling Cup, FA Cup and Johnstone's Paint Trophy ties unless they are drawn against his parent club.
Sawyer had a successful three-month loan-spell with Southend last season and also spent time with Wycombe Wanderers and Coventry City.
Sawyer's deal at Roots Hall is set to end on 10 January 2010.
