Plymouth Devils failed to pick up an away point in their National Trophy match away to Newport on Sunday. Mark Simmonds continued his fine run of form, scoring an impressive 13 points for the visitors. Danish rider Nicki Glanz also performed well, securing 10 points from five consecutive rides. The defeat, coupled with Bournemouth's away point at King's Lynn, means the Devils hopes of reaching the National League Championship play-offs are over. Despite losing 45-44, Bournemouth move up into fourth place, one point ahead of Plymouth, as the National League reached the cut-off point for play-off qualification.
